Job Overview: The Computer-Assisted Design and Drafting (CADD) Operator will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC machinery to fabricate high-quality wood doors and related components. The role involves interpreting technical drawings, ensuring product quality, and maintaining a safe, clean working environment.

Duties:
• Programming CNC machines (using software such as Mastercam, AutoCAD, or equivalent) for wood door components based on production drawings and specifications
• Setting up and operating CNC machinery, including routers, mills, and other automated woodworking equipment
• Writing technical reports
• Selecting appropriate tools, fixtures, and machine settings for each job
• Creating building information models (BIM), using computer software to provide digital representations of physical and functional aspects of projects
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical documents
• Monitoring machine operation and making adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and product quality
• Checking and verifying design drawings to confirm to specifications and design data
• Operating computer-assisted design (CAD) and drafting workstations
• Conducting quality checks to ensure products meet dimensional and finish requirements
• Collaborating with production and engineering teams to optimize CNC operations and improving workflow efficiency
• Adhering to all safety protocols and company policies

Requirements:
• Completion of a two-to three-year post-secondary program in engineering design, architecture or other related field is required
• 2+ years of experience in CNC drafting and programming in the woodworking or wood products industry
• Proficient in CNC programming software (e.g. AutoCAD)
• Strong understanding of woodworking tools, materials, and methods
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD files
• Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity
• Strong math and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lift up to 40-50 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Experience in architectural or custom wood door manufacturing
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement processes
• Knowledge of edge banding, boring machines, and other wood processing equipment
• Occasional overtime based on production demand may be required
