Job Description:
Abbeywrap Packaging Ltd. is currently seeking a Coating Machine Operator for its facility based in Abbotsford, British Columbia. The Coating Machine Operator sets up, operates, or tends machines to coat lumber wraps and bags with low density poly ethylene resin to protect the lumber from any adverse effects during transportation.
Job Responsibilities:
• Select appropriate low density polyethylene (LDPE) resin using automated mixing equipment according to a pre-determined formula
• Operate automated coating equipment or other mechanized product coating application equipment
• Clean and maintain coating, ventilation, compressed air and personal protective equipment
• Observes machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects or deviations from standards, and make adjustments as necessary.
• Determines flow of coating material, viscosity, and coating quality by performing visual inspections, or by using viscometers
• Weighs or measures coatings before adding them to machines.
• Selects appropriate coatings or prepares them by mixing substances according to formulas, using automated mixing equipment.
• Sets up and operates machines to coat lumber wraps and bags with low density poly ethylene (LDPE) resin.
• Turns dials, hand wheels, valves, or switches to regulate conveyor speeds, machine temperature, air pressure and circulation, and the flow or spray of coatings.
• Fills out and submits paperwork to facilitate company operations.
• Must operate auxiliary machines or equipment used in coating processes.
• Needs knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
• Inspects coated product for defects and changes setup to coat sheets to specifications.
• Keeps work area neat and clean and free of any parts on the floor.
• All safety guidelines laid down to be followed without fail.
