Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cleaner to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and order in various settings, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all. This position requires a strong commitment to customer service and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
Job Requirements:
Responsibilities:
Sweep, mop, wash, wax and polish classroom and corridor floors.
Dust furniture and vacuum carpeting, area rugs, draperies and upholstered items.
Tidy up rooms, change bedding and distribute clean towels and toiletry supplies.
Properly store toys and learning materials left by children and staff.
Respond promptly to staff or parent requests for extra cleaning or supplies.
Organize and restock linen closets and other supply areas.
Clean, disinfect and polish kitchenettes, bathroom fixtures, diaper-changing stations and appliances.
Sanitize public areas such as change rooms, washrooms and entryways.
Disinfect the first-aid/isolation room or other designated medical areas as required.
Pick up debris and empty, clean and line trash and recycling containers.
Wash interior windows, walls, ceilings and glass partitions.
Report, label and store lost-and-found items.
Provide basic information or directions about the facility to visitors when asked.
Listen courteously to minor cleanliness complaints and resolve them appropriately.
Follow WHMIS and workplace safety procedures, keeping accurate chemical-use logs.
Coordinate cleaning schedules with daycare staff to minimise disruption to children’s activities.
Experience
Previous experience in custodial or commercial cleaning is preferred but not required.
Familiarity with facilities maintenance practices is a plus.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact positively with children and educators.
Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including heavy lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in various environments.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and attention to detail is essential.
