Child Caregiver - private home Job

A family in the Langford area of Victoria, BC, is looking for a Home Child Care Provider to care for young children and do household chores. Experience is an asset but not required. Hours of work will be 30-40 hours per week, but the time of day will vary according to the family's schedule. The successful candidate must be flexible in work schedule, cheerful, reliable, nurturing, and communicative, and able to lift 25 pounds. Duties include the following:

- Supervise and care for young children in the employer's home, also looking after their emotional well-being.
- Bathe, dress, and prepare a child for naps, and change diapers.
- Prepare formulas and nutritious meals according to the employer's directions, and feed an infant.
- Sterilize bottles and prepare formulas.
- Shop for food and household supplies.
- Discipline children according to methods requested by the parents.
- Instruct children regarding personal hygiene and social development.
- Support a child with homework as needed.
- Take a child to and from school, activities and/or appointments.
- Travel with the family on occasional trips to assist with child supervision and housekeeping duties.
- Keep daily records of children’s health and activities.
- Do light housekeeping duties, and maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home.
- Perform other related tasks as required.

Qualifications:
- Work experience as a child caregiver and/or relevant training is an asset but not required.
- A First Aid Certificate.
- Completion of secondary school.
- Pass security checks, e.g., Child Abuse Registry, Child welfare, Driving record, & Vulnerable Sector checks after a conditional offer of employment.
- Provide references.
