Job Description:
We are currently hiring compassionate and reliable Child and Youth Workers (CYW/CYC) to support children and youth in residential care settings throughout Toronto. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact by providing safe, therapeutic, and trauma-informed care to children and youth with complex behavioural, emotional, developmental, and mental health needs.
As a Child and Youth Worker, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, supportive, and structured environment while promoting each youth's growth, independence, and overall well-being.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and supervision to children and youth in residential settings.
- Build positive therapeutic relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Implement individualized care plans, behaviour support plans, and safety plans.
- Support residents with daily routines, life skills, recreation, and community integration.
- Utilize crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques when required.
- Complete accurate documentation, incident reports, and daily shift notes.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living environment.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and residential staff.
- Transport residents to appointments, school, recreational activities, or community outings when required.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, Ministry standards, and all applicable legislation.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Child and Youth Care, Child and Youth Worker, Social Service Worker, Social Work, Psychology, or another related human services field.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience working with children or youth in residential care, group homes, secure treatment, youth justice, developmental services, mental health, or related settings.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR (Level C) certification.
- Current CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or equivalent Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification.
- Valid Ontario G Class Driver's Licence may be required depending on the assignment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, holidays, overnight awake shifts, and on-call
assignments as required.
