Job Description

Duties:

•Manage the overall pilot training program in compliance with Transport Canada regulations.

•Supervise all flight and ground instructors within the school.

•Directly supervise Class 4 instructors and assign Class 2 instructors for supervision duties.

•Provide flight and ground instruction for PPL and CPL students to Transport Canada standards.

•Instruct student pilots in procedures and techniques of flying aircraft and in ground school subjects such as navigation, radio procedures, and flying regulations.

•Train licensed pilots for additional certifications, recurrent training, and standardization.

•Conduct flight checks, progress reviews, and training evaluations.

•Maintain instructional proficiency according to Transport Canada standards.

•Ensure quality and consistency of all ground and flight training.

•Approve appointment of ground school instructors.

•Ensure accuracy and completeness of all student training records and documentation.

•Authorize solo flights and ensure proper operational control through daily flight records.

•Maintain and update required aviation publications, charts, maps, and reference materials.

•Make operational safety decisions and enforce the Safety Management System (SMS).

•Ensure staff licences, ratings, and training currency remain valid.

•Communicate regulatory and procedural updates to all instructors.

•Monitor student progress and assign remedial training when required.

•Approve training schedules and ensure efficient use of instructors, aircraft, and simulators.

•Serve as the primary liaison with Transport Canada on training and operational matters.

•Represent the school in aviation safety campaigns, seminars, and industry/community engagements.

Education and Work Experience:

•Completion of secondary school and graduation from a certified flying or aviation school are required.

•A commercial pilot's or an air transport pilot's licence is required.

•Valid Class 1 or Class 2 Flight Instructor Rating is required.

•Minimum 2 years of experience as a flight instructor is required.

•Demonstrated experience managing or overseeing flight training operations

•Strong knowledge of Transport Canada regulations

•Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

•French Language proficiency considered an asset
