Key Responsibilities

1. Capital Raising & Investor Relations

• Spearhead Series B financing and subsequent funding rounds, ensuring sufficient capital for sustained growth and technology deployment. Build strong relationships with investors, communicate our vision and progress, and secure the resources needed to accelerate each phase of commercialization.

2. Strategic Financial Planning

• Lead long-range financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting aligned with Kronos’s three-phase commercialization strategy. Ensure each phase – from R&D and prototype (Phase 1) to pilot plants (Phase 2) and mass deployment (Phase 3) – is fully funded and financially optimized, with clear milestones and ROI targets.

3. Financial Frameworks for Scaling

• Establish robust financial frameworks and controls to scale manufacturing and deployment of fusion energy systems. Implement cost optimization programs to improve efficiency (e.g. reducing cost per reactor and levelized cost of energy) while supporting rapid production ramp-up and global site development.

4. Regulatory Navigation & Incentives

• Proactively navigate energy sector regulatory requirements and leverage government subsidies, grants, and incentives (such as clean energy tax credits or R&D grants). Ensure compliance with financial regulations and positioning Kronos to maximize available financial advantages in different jurisdictions.

5. Partnership & Stakeholder Management

• Structure strategic financial partnerships and agreements with governments, industry partners, and corporate stakeholders. Forge alliances (public-private partnerships, joint ventures, etc.) that provide long-term financing stability, including collaborations with government agencies, utility companies, and global corporations to support large-scale fusion projects.

6. Risk Management

• Develop and implement comprehensive risk mitigation strategies for large-scale infrastructure investments. Manage financial risks related to project execution, supply chain, and scaling – including insurance coverage, hedging of key commodities or currencies, and contingency planning for cost overruns or delays. Establish supply chain financing solutions to ensure key suppliers can scale with us without disrupting cash flow.

7. Operational Financial Leadership

• Oversee all aspects of financial operations – from accounting and audit to treasury and tax – ensuring financial discipline and transparency. Implement systems and KPIs to track performance, and institute rigorous financial controls that protect assets while enabling agile decision-making. Balance the need for strict cost control with the imperative to invest in innovation, R&D, and talent to drive long-term growth.

8. Team Building & Leadership

• Build and mentor a high-performing finance team capable of supporting a complex, growing enterprise. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration with technical and operational teams. Serve as a thought partner to the executive leadership, providing insight on financial implications of strategic choices and ensuring cross-functional alignment on goals.

Qualifications & Experience

Education & Background

• MBA or advanced degree in finance, business, or a related field preferred (or equivalent executive experience). Proven leadership experience in deep-tech, energy, or infrastructure finance, ideally as a CFO or senior finance executive in a high-growth company or innovative industrial venture.

Fundraising Track Record

• Demonstrated success in securing growth-stage funding (Series B, C, and beyond), including dealing with venture capital, private equity, strategic investors, and/or government funding programs. Experience managing large-scale capital allocation (tens to hundreds of millions of dollars) to support company growth and complex projects.

Industry & Scaling Expertise

• Strong familiarity with scaling industrial or energy technologies. Experience navigating the financial complexities of frontier innovation – such as long R&D cycles, hardware manufacturing, and large capital expenditures. Knowledge of energy markets, project finance, and infrastructure development is a major plus.

Strategic & Analytical Skills

• Exceptional strategic thinking and financial modeling skills. Ability to develop long-term financial strategies that balance growth and risk. Adept at scenario planning, forecasting under uncertainty, and guiding the company through financial inflection points (e.g., commercialization, international expansion).

Operational Discipline

• Hands-on experience building financial processes and controls in a scaling organization. Able to implement effective financial systems for budgeting, reporting, and compliance. Detail-oriented and data-driven, with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.

Stakeholder Communication

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to interface with investors, boards, regulatory bodies, and technical teams alike. Can clearly articulate complex financial information and strategic rationales to diverse stakeholders, and inspire confidence and alignment.

Leadership & Teamwork

• A collaborative leader who can inspire and elevate cross-functional teams. Comfortable in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Passionate about the clean energy revolution and able to instill that passion in others through financial stewardship and vision.
