Chef– Vietnamese cuisine
Multiflora Rose Café & Restaurant Corp.
Overview:
Multiflora Rose Café & Restaurant Corp. is seeking an experienced chef with a strong background in Vietnamese cuisine. You will be responsible for running kitchen operations, ensuring consistent food quality, supervising and scheduling staff, researching and developing new menu items, contributing to a positive dining experience for guests, and supporting the growth and reputation of the restaurant's brand.
Duties:
• Manage and oversee all kitchen operations.
• Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities.
• Prepare and cook full-course Vietnamese meals and individual dishes
• Develop, update, and refine menus in alignment with the restaurant’s brand and culinary vision.
• Create and develop signature dishes for the restaurant.
• Recommend seasonal menus, special event menus, and promotional offerings.
• Consult with clients regarding menus for banquets, catering services, and special events.
• Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate kitchen staff.
• Schedule staff shifts, assign duties, and monitor kitchen staff performance.
• Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff.
• Personally prepare and cook dishes for special guests or events as required.
• Plan purchasing activities and oversee inventory levels and ingredient quality.
• Manage, maintain, and ensure the effective use of kitchen equipment.
• Control food costs, estimate food requirements, and monitor food and labour costs.
• Ensure the quality, flavour, portioning, and presentation of all dishes meet the restaurant’s standards.
• Monitor customer feedback and recommend improvements to menu items and food offerings.
• Assist in resolving customer concerns and complaints related to food quality and kitchen services.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, occupational health, and workplace safety regulations.
Job Requirements
• Completion of secondary school is required.
• Cook's trade certification or equivalent credentials is required.
• A minimum 3 years of experience as a chef in a commercial kitchen, including experience preparing Vietnamese cuisine, is required.
• Demonstrated experience in menu planning, recipe development, and kitchen management.
• Knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods with safe food handling practices.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, train, and lead kitchen staff in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in inventory control, food purchasing, cost management, and labour scheduling.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and time-management skills.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team, proficiency in English is required, proficiency in Vietnamese is an asset.
