Job Summary
Agave Azul is a newly opened Mexican restaurant in Toronto, founded by a team with years of experience in authentic Mexican cuisine and restaurant operations. We are committed to providing an exceptional dining experience through high-quality ingredients, traditional Mexican flavours, and outstanding customer service in a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere.
We are seeking two talented and experienced Chefs to lead our culinary team. The successful candidates will be responsible for preparing authentic Mexican cuisine, supervising kitchen staff, maintaining food quality and consistency, managing inventory and food costs, ensuring compliance with food safety standards, and supporting the efficient day-to-day operation of the kitchen in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Duties
?Prepare and cook a variety of authentic Mexican dishes according to established recipes and quality standards.
?Ensure consistency, quality, presentation, and portion control of all food items served.
?Requisition food and kitchen supplies and ensure proper storage and rotation of ingredients.
?Demonstrate cooking techniques and the proper use of kitchen equipment to kitchen staff.
?Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to restaurant standards.
?Provide guidance and direction to kitchen staff to maintain consistency in food preparation, presentation, and food handling practices.
?Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards.
?Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
Skills and Qualifications
?Minimum 1 year of experience as a Chef.
?Experience preparing authentic Mexican cuisine.
?Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, menu planning, and kitchen operations.
?Proven leadership and supervisory experience in a commercial kitchen environment.
?Thorough understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures.
?Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.
?Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
?Strong attention to detail and commitment to culinary excellence.
?Ability to lead by example and maintain a positive and productive kitchen environment.
