Job Description:
Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items
Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory
Analyze operating costs and other data
Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
Supervise activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers
Create new recipes
Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets
Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods
Requisition food and kitchen supplies
Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets and specialty functions
Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards
Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
Recruit and hire staff

Job Requirements:
Requirements
Education: Completion of high school is required
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as a cook is required. In the event that the candidate does not have 5 years of experience then equivalent credentials, training OR cook’s trade certificate is required.
Supervisory experience in commercial food preparation as a sous-chef, specialist chef or chef is required.
Knowledge of Mexican cuisine is required due to the nature of the business.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Physically demanding, Attention to detail, Standing for extended periods
Personal Suitability: Leadership, Dependability, E?cient interpersonal skills, Excellent oral communication, Flexibility, Initiative, Organized, Reliability, Team player
Language: English is required
Ability to supervise at least 3-5 workers.
Salary: 36 CAD hourly. 40 hours per week.
Important Information: Flexibility in schedule is required. The employee will work 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Shifts will typically be scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Day, evening, weekend and holiday shifts may be required.
Overtime may be required during busy periods, weekends, and special events.
