Job Description:
Staxon Construction is looking for a Full-Time Carpentry Foreman (NOC 72013)! This is a full-time, permanent position with 40 hours per week, $40.00/hour, with benefits.
Job Description:
• Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of carpenters, apprentices and labourers on site
• Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate carpentry activities with other subcontractors and trades
• Read and interpret architectural and structural drawings to determine work requirements and assign crew accordingly
• Requisition materials and supplies and coordinate daily material and labour requirements
• Conduct phase inspections and quality-assurance checks to confirm structural work meets engineering specifications and the BC Building Code
• Resolve work problems on site and recommend measures to improve productivity
• Train, mentor and arrange training for apprentices and junior crew members, including supporting apprentice progression toward Red Seal certification
• Ensure standards for safe working conditions are observed and enforced on site in accordance with WorkSafeBC requirements
• Recommend personnel actions such as hiring, scheduling and crew assignment
• Perform hands-on carpentry work alongside the crew as required by the phase of the build
Job Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years’ residential carpentry experience.
• Experience across structural framing, foundations and formwork, and exterior and interior finish carpentry.
• Experience leading and scheduling a crew is an asset.
• Completion of secondary school or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings
• Valid BC driver's licence and reliable transportation to a mountain-resort worksite
• Personal hand and power tool kit (Staxon provides all heavy and specialty equipment)
• Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certification
• Fall Protection / Fall Arrest training
• Ability to work at heights, outdoors, in variable mountain weather conditions
• Weight handling up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
• Language in the workplace is English
