Carpenter Job

Job Description:

Carpenter - Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, such as cabinets, furniture, and building frameworks - Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to determine materials needed and dimensions to be followed - Use various hand and power tools to shape, cut, and fasten wood and other materials - Maintain and repair existing structures as needed - Ensure work is completed within budget and meets quality standards - Follow safety procedures and regulations at all times while on the job site

Job Duties

Reading blueprints and designs prepared by other architects, construction professionals, and ensuring they meet building code recommendations and requirements.
Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware
Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
Supervise apprentices and other construction workers
May prepare cost estimates for clients.
