Cafeteria Worker Job

Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Cafeteria Worker to join our school team. In this role, you will help prepare and serve meals to students while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming dining environment. The ideal candidate is team-oriented, attentive to detail, and committed to supporting student well-being through quality food service and excellent customer care.

Responsibilities

Assist with the preparation and serving of breakfast and lunch according to established menus and portion guidelines
Serve students and staff in a friendly, respectful, and efficient manner
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, serving lines, and dining areas
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
Operate kitchen equipment safely and appropriately
Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food and supplies
Clean dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed
Monitor food quantities and report shortages or issues to the supervisor
Support smooth meal service and help ensure timely transitions between meal periods

Qualifications

Previous food service or cafeteria experience preferred, but not required
Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
Good communication and customer service skills
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift light to moderate items

Preferred Skills

Experience working in a school or institutional kitchen setting
Familiarity with meal service procedures and portion control
Food handler certification or willingness to obtain one
