CAD Drafting Technician Job

JH Building Materials is a building material supplier and a manufacturer of railings, fences, stairs, deck inside and outside buildings and sunlight rooms in Winnipeg area. We are hiring a Computer-aided design (CAD) Drafting Technician who is a professional skilled in creating plans, schematics and 3D models in architectural design.

Your primary duties:
- Operate computer-assisted design (CAD) and drafting workstations;
- Prepare design sketches according to clients' requirements and develop drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data;
- Create building information models (BIM), using computer software, to provide digital representations of physical and functional aspects of projects for constructing;
- Check and verify design drawings to confirm to specifications and design data;
- Write specifications and complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets;
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Prepare construction specifications, costs and material estimates;

- 2 years of experience in CAD related position is required.
- 2 years of AutoCad experience is required, knowledge of SolidWorks, SketchUp, and AlphaCam is an asset.
- Must be able to work in a fast past environment while ensuring 100% accuracy.
- Must have an understanding of the importance of material yield while maintaining a quality finished product.
- Ability to read blueprints and process takeoffs.
- Work with minimum supervision.
- Must have excellent verbal/written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of Windows PC and programs (Excel, Word).
