CAD Dental Designer Assistant Job

Join our team at Creative Designs Orthodontic Studio in Mississauga as a CAD Dental Designer Assistant! You'll support our technicians by helping design and prepare digital dental models and appliances using CAD software and 3D printing tools. Main Job Duties:
Assist in preparing digital dental files (STL format) for 3D printing of models and appliances
Support dental technicians in designing aligner treatment stages using specialized dental CAD software
Assist in operating and maintaining 3D printers, including loading materials and monitoring print jobs under supervision
Perform post-processing of 3D printed models, such as washing, curing, and conducting basic quality checks
Maintain a clean, organized lab workspace and help ensure equipment is regularly cleaned and maintained
Follow established lab protocols, digital workflows, and data management procedures to support accuracy and efficiency
Assist in the design and fabrication of digital dental appliances (e.g., nightguards and orthodontic aligners) under the direction of a dental technician
Support the use of CAD software such as 3Shape Ortho Analyzer, Exocad, and Meshmixer to help with the design and modification of digital dental models and appliances

Language Requirements: English

Education Requirements: Completion of secondary school is required.

Experience and skills Required: A minimum of 3 years of experience in a dental laboratory, dental CAD/CAM design environment, or a related support role is required. Experience assisting with the preparation of digital dental models, using CAD/CAM software under supervision, or supporting dental design processes (such as file preparation, 3D printing setup, or record management) is considered an asset. Familiarity with clear aligner workflows and STL file handling is preferred.

Skills Required:
Previous experience working in a dental laboratory or dental office setting
Some understanding in orthodontics and orthodontic retainers / appliances
Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision
Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
Familiarity with CAD/CAM dental software for model preparation and simple adjustments. Specifically 3Shape Ortho Analyzer and Exocad.
Ability to assist in the preparation and organization of STL files and digital workflows.
Comfortable operating and maintaining 3D printers under supervision.
Attention to detail for reviewing prescriptions and ensuring accurate digital processing.
Strong organizational and data entry skills to track cases and maintain production records.
Good communication skills to collaborate with dental professionals and team members.
Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving dental technologies and protocols.
