Job Description:

M Y Kitchen Cabinet Co, a well-established cabinet design and fabrication company, is seeking a skilled Cabinetmaker to join our team. The successful candidate will fabricate and assemble custom cabinets and vanities for residential and commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Consult with clients to determine needs and provide ongoing feedback throughout projects
• Prepare specifications for custom-made cabinets to maximize storage
• Study plans, specifications, or drawings of articles to be made
• Estimate amount, type, and cost of materials required
• Operate woodworking machines (power saws, jointers, mortisers, shapers) to cut, shape, and form parts and components
• Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces using hand tools (planes, chisels, wood files)
• Operate CADD and other computer software systems for design and layout
• Trim joints and assemble parts and subassemblies to form complete units, reinforcing joints as required
• Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain, or polish; prepare and apply laminated plastics
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Assist with light sales and client management duties, including following up on quotes and project progress
• Work independently and supervise or train new and contract workers as needed
• Lead and mentor a team of workers independently on projects as required

Notes:

• We will provide training and support to obtain certification
• We are hoping to find someone who will be able to progress to a supervisory position and lead a team independently – progression will be supported with experience.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• 2 years college diploma/ certificate or related experience
• 2 years of experience in woodworking, cabinetmaking, or a related field
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety procedures
• Ability to work independently without supervision
• Experience or education related to designing

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for long periods and lift/move heavy materials
• Work in a clean and safe environment, following safety protocols
