CABINET MAKER Job

• Read blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Interpret dimensions, joinery, and finishes required.
• Measure and mark wood accurately based on design.
• Use saws, chisels, planers, and CNC machines to cut or shape wood.
• Join pieces of wood using nails, screws, dowels, or glue.
• Assemble cabinet frames, doors, drawers, and shelves.
• Sand, stain, or paint wood surfaces.
• Apply veneers, laminates, or finishes to enhance durability and appearance.
• Install cabinets in kitchens, bathrooms, offices, or commercial settings.
• Align and secure cabinets using tools and fasteners.
• Operate power tools: table saws, routers, jointers, drills.
• Maintain safety protocols when using woodworking machinery
• Fix broken or damaged cabinets.
• Replace worn-out components or hardware.
• Choose suitable wood types, laminates, or composite materials.
• Calculate and order materials as needed for each project.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Follow Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

• Completion of secondary school (high school diploma) is required.
• Minimum 1 to 7 months of hands-on cabinetmaking or woodworking experience.
• Experience can include internships, on-the-job training, or supervised apprenticeship.
• Basic understanding of how to read blueprints, sketches, or technical drawings.
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools such as table saws, routers, and sanders
• Physically fit to lift heavy materials, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
• Basic knowledge of workplace safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ability to measure accurately and cut precisely according to specifications.
• Basic English or French language skills.
• Ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and work well with a team.
