Salary: $36.00 per hour; The gross salary paid is subject to all applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions such as EI and CPP.

Vacation: 4% of the gross salary

Hours of Work: 30-40 Hours a week; Overtime rate (X1.5) applicable after 44 hours of work per week; Requires working on evenings and weekends

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

• Cut, trim, and prepare standard meat cuts including goat, lamb, poultry, and fish for retail sale based on customer orders.
• Set up and safely operate a variety of scaling, pricing and other power equipment such as grinders, slicing machines, cutters and knives.
• Label, weigh, wrap, and display meat products for retail sale and ensure proper packaging for freshness.
• Inspecting meat/poultry products, receiving and checking shipments against orders, noting any discrepancies.
• Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of meat preparation and storage areas, complying with health and safety standards.
• Maintain sanitation practices and procedures to prevent infection.
• Monitor freezer and cooler temperatures to ensure proper food storage conditions and prevent spoilage.
• Handle customer transactions, including weighing and pricing meat, providing product recommendations, and operating the cash register.
• Keep record of sales and help estimating the raw meat purchasing.
• Train newly hired meat cutters in their job duties

• Completion of secondary school is required.
• 7-12 months experience in a retail butcher/meat shop is required
• Strong hand-eye coordination and proficiency with manual knives and electric cutting equipment is essential.
• Ability to work in a cold environment and handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
