Position Summary
The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, technology teams and support personnel to analyze business and information-system requirements, identify opportunities for process and system improvements, and support the design, implementation and ongoing enhancement of information systems solutions. The role serves as a key liaison between business and technical teams to ensure technology solutions effectively support organizational requirements, operational efficiency and strategic objectives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Consult with internal and external stakeholders to identify business needs, gather information-system requirements, document functional and technical requirements, and translate business objectives into system-related specifications.
• Analyze existing business processes, workflows and information systems to identify gaps, inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement, and recommend customized technology and system solutions that improve operational performance and efficiency.
• Evaluate business and system requirements and participate in the design, development, configuration, integration and implementation of information-system business solutions.
• Prepare business and functional requirements, process documentation, system specifications, workflow diagrams, reports and other documentation required to support system development, implementation and enhancement initiatives.
• Coordinate and act as a liaison among business units, technology teams, system developers, vendors and support teams to communicate requirements, resolve system-related issues and ensure proposed solutions meet business objectives.
• Provide recommendations and advice regarding information-systems strategy, system functionality, technology policies, system management, security, service delivery and continuous improvement.
• Plan, coordinate and perform system, functional, integration and user-acceptance testing for new systems, modifications and enhancements to verify reliability, accuracy, functionality and conformity with documented business requirements.
• Identify, document, investigate and assist in resolving system defects, process gaps and implementation issues, and work with technical teams to develop and validate appropriate solutions.
• Support the implementation, integration and enhancement of business systems by coordinating requirements, validating system configurations, monitoring implementation activities and confirming that completed solutions meet operational requirements.
• Monitor implemented systems and business solutions, gather stakeholder feedback and recommend system or process enhancements to improve functionality, efficiency, service delivery and user experience.
Qualifications and Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or a related discipline, or completion of a college program in computer science or a related information-technology field.
• Demonstrated experience in business systems analysis, information-systems implementation, business process analysis or a related information-technology role.
• Experience gathering, analyzing and documenting business, functional and system requirements and translating business needs into practical information-system solutions.
• Knowledge of business-process analysis, system-development and implementation methodologies, system integration and information-system lifecycle practices.
• Experience conducting functional, integration, system and/or user-acceptance testing and documenting test results, system issues and required enhancements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate business processes, identify system gaps and recommend appropriate technology-based solutions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as a liaison between business stakeholders, technology teams, vendors and support teams.
• Ability to prepare clear system documentation, business requirements, process documentation, reports and recommendations.
• Knowledge of information-system security, data integrity, service delivery and system-management principles is considered an asset.
• Relevant software-vendor certification or specialized training may be considered an asset depending on the systems and applications used by the organization.
