KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform general maintenance and minor repairs to the childcare facility, including classrooms, offices, washrooms, doors, windows, fixtures, and other building components.
• Conduct regular inspections of the building and facility to identify maintenance requirements, safety concerns, and necessary repairs.
• Perform minor repairs to plumbing, electrical fixtures, heating, ventilation, and other building systems, where appropriate.
• Maintain and repair doors, locks, windows, flooring, walls, furniture, shelving, and other fixtures to ensure the facility remains safe and functional.
• Conduct routine maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and other building equipment and arrange for qualified service providers when specialized repairs are required.
• Inspect and maintain lighting, safety equipment, fire exits, and other building facilities to help ensure a safe environment for children, staff, and visitors.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to playground areas, outdoor spaces, fences, gates, and other exterior facilities.
• Carry out preventive maintenance activities and maintain records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance work performed.
• Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for specialized maintenance, repair, and servicing work.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and urgent repair requirements to minimize disruption to childcare operations.
• Maintain maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies and ensure they are stored safely.
• Ensure that the building and surrounding areas are maintained in a clean, safe, secure, and properly functioning condition.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and ensure maintenance activities are carried out safely, particularly in areas used by children.
