DCS Fitness and Martial Arts Ltd. dba Diaz Combat Sports is a leading martial arts training club providing training in Muay Thai kickboxing, boxing, Jiujitsu, mixed martial arts (MMA) and combat conditioning.
DCS Fitness and Martial Arts Ltd. is seeking candidates for placement as a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & MMA Coach. This position reports to the Owner Instructor and is responsible for the Brazilian Jiujitsu program. There is one position available.
This is a full time permanent position with responsibilities for instruction and training of club team fighters in national and international competitions. The location of employment is Vancouver, B.C., with national and international travel required as necessary for Club events. The language of work is English.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & MMA Coach
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Assess the skill level, strengths, and weaknesses of students and professional mixed martial arts (MMA) athletes to tailor coaching methods and improve performance.
• Plan, design, and implement training sessions focusing on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques, ensuring that all sessions align with athletes’ competitive goals and skill development requirements.
• Develop personalized training programs for athletes competing at regional, national, and international levels in MMA and grappling competitions.
• Nurture athletes’ physical and mental preparedness through ongoing instruction, motivation, and performance monitoring to enhance their skill sets and sporting potential.
• Prepare athletes for competitions by creating competitive strategies and game plans tailored to each athlete’s style and opponent profiles.
• Direct athletes during sparring, grappling sessions, and live competitions, providing real-time tactical guidance and technical corrections as needed.
• Analyze athletes’ performance through video review and post-event evaluation, modifying training programs accordingly to support continuous improvement.
• Liaise with other coaches and specialists (e.g. striking, strength and conditioning staff) at Diaz Combat Sports to support athletes’ all-around skill development and physical conditioning.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA techniques, trends, and best practices to continuously enhance the gym’s competitive training programs.
• Identify promising students and developing athletes for advancement into competitive MMA programs and collaborate with management on their long-term development plans.
• Foster a positive, disciplined training environment that promotes athletes’ respect, work ethic, and sportsmanship in alignment with Diaz Combat Sports’ values and competitive standards.
Terms of employment: Full-time, Permanent
Wage: $37 per hour

• Martial arts instructor Certification
• Candidates must have demonstrated ability in Brazilian Jiujitsu, demonstrated competition experience at a high level (national or international competition level preferred) and demonstrated experience with instruction and training, including:
o Minimum 5 years Brazilian Jiujitsu instruction/training experience.
o Minimum 1 year Brazilian Jiujitsu fighting experience at a high level of competition (national and international experience preferred)
