We are currently seeking an experienced Bakery & Specialty Food Store Manager to join our team, with knowledge and experience in Greek and Mediterranean bakery and specialty food products, including traditional baked goods, pastries, breads, cakes and imported specialty foods.

• Duties:
o Plan, direct and oversee the day-to-day retail operations of the bakery and specialty food market, including staffing, sales, inventory, purchasing, merchandising and customer service.
o Hire, train, supervise and evaluate retail staff; prepare work schedules, assign responsibilities and monitor employee performance (supervision of 15-20 employees).
o Determine the selection and quantities of bakery products, pastries, breads, cakes and Greek and Mediterranean specialty food products to be offered for sale based on customer demand and seasonal requirements.
o Manage inventory and purchasing requirements, including sourcing products, coordinating orders with local and international suppliers, monitoring stock levels and overseeing deliveries.
o Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors and negotiate pricing, purchasing terms and product availability, where appropriate.
o Monitor sales, inventory, operating expenses and product performance; assist in establishing budgets, control expenditures and implement measures to minimize waste and improve profitability.
o Establish and implement pricing, merchandising, product display and promotional strategies to increase sales and support business growth.
o Establish customer service standards and resolve escalated customer, employee, supplier and operational issues.
o Oversee store presentation, merchandising and product displays to ensure established quality and brand standards are maintained.
o Ensure employees comply with company policies and applicable food safety, health and workplace safety requirements.
• Position Requirements / Skills:
o Completion of secondary school is required.
o Minimum 2 years of progressively responsible experience in retail operations, including supervisory or team leadership experience.
o Experience supervising and training employees, preparing work schedules and monitoring staff performance.
o Experience with inventory control, merchandise ordering, purchasing and coordinating with suppliers.
o Experience in a bakery, grocery store, specialty food market or similar food retail environment is considered an asset.
o Experience with Greek and Mediterranean bakery, grocery and specialty food products is considered an asset.
• Language Requirements: English, required. Greek, an asset.
• Working Conditions:
• Fast-paced bakery and specialty food retail environment. Prolonged periods of standing and walking. May require occasional lifting and movement of inventory and supplies. Must be available to work flexible shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Wages: $37.00 per hour;
• Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week, with occasional overtime. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
