Salary: $43.27 hourly for 30 hours per week

J.J.’s Market is a local market in downtown Ottawa that operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It sells groceries, fresh produce, snacks, cold beverages, non-perishable items and household products. The store also operates prepared-food and bakery sections offering freshly baked bread, muffins and other baked goods, as well as coffee, fresh salads, soups and sandwiches.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Bakery Manager will plan, organize and evaluate bakery operations, oversee employees and product inventory, monitor sales and expenses, and resolve customer and operational issues. The position is also responsible for maintaining product quality, service standards and compliance with applicable health and food safety requirements.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Direct, evaluate, plan and organize the daily operations of the bakery department.
• Manage staff, assign duties and oversee their daily performance.
• Review market trends, customer demand and sales volumes to support business decisions.
• Determine the bakery products and merchandise to be sold and implement pricing policies.
• Develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies.
• Plan budgets and monitor revenues, expenses and inventory costs.
• Resolve customer complaints, supply shortages and other operational issues.
• Determine staffing needs and recruit, hire, train and supervise employees, including conducting performance reviews.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Education: Completion of secondary education
• Experience: 2 years of work experience in the position
• Languages: Proficiency in English
