Responsibilities:
Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems.
Confirm findings with supervisor to decide whether to repair or replace units.
Discuss work with supervisor and provide detailed reports on problems and work performed.
Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions.
Road test motor vehicles and adjust or repair parts and components of automotive and truck-trailer systems.
Estimate parts and labour costs for vehicle maintenance and repairs.
Perform scheduled maintenance service and advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements.
Coach and instruct apprentices, ensuring accurate and dependable work.
Experience and Specialization:
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
Experience: 1 to less than 2 years in automotive mechanics.
Specializations: Diagnostics, brake systems, fuel and emission systems, engine repair and overhaul, auto body repair.
