Automation Engineer Job

Responsible for hardware selection and software development; Guides the hardware design (does not do CAD) but develops the required programs; Manages a team of developers if necessary (internal or external) (hardware and software); Manages the planning and budget of the project if necessary; Writes the functional and risk analysis if necessary; Adheres to established rules and development guidelines; Provides documents useful for the understanding and follow-up of the project; Directs and assists engineers in situations where troubleshooting or technology may fall outside their area of expertise; Evaluates new technologies and other supplier innovations; Suggests development ideas that are within the scope of responsibilities; Writes specifications or terms of reference that will be useful to suppliers and/or subcontractors; Organizes the project: Planning within the defined budget and the milestones of the Product Development Program; Leads and is the first sponsor of a project; Organizes supplier benchmarks; Works on functional and risk analyses with all the design stakeholders; Guides the hardware design. Requirements – Bachelor’s or foreign degree equivalent in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field 2 years of experience in job offered or in troubleshooting industrial control systems. Also acceptable: Associate’s or foreign degree equivalent in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field and 3 years of experience in job offered or in troubleshooting industrial control systems. Special skills - Experience with B&R controllers; Variable frequency drives; PLCs; HMIs; SCADA; Process instrumentation; 480VAC electrical control equipment. Occasional domestic and European (France) travel required when conducting tests on a prototype at the customers' facility during extended field trials up to 15% of time. Hybrid role-telecommuting permitted 2 days/wk with mandatory in-office days 3 days/wk.
