Job Description:
• Develop and establish standardized mechanical specifications for automated material handling systems (“AMHS”) and related semiconductor manufacturing equipment;
• Define mechanical design requirements and hardware specifications for equipment parts, assemblies, modules, and complete systems;
• Review mechanical specifications, drawings, and design processes, including tolerance stack-up, stiffness, vibration, thermal growth, fatigue life, and ergonomic considerations;
• Perform mechanical design verification, Factory Acceptance Testing (“FAT”), Site Acceptance Testing (“SAT”), inspection, and validation of newly introduced equipment to ensure compliance with established mechanical specifications, cleanroom requirements, safety requirements, and functional acceptance criteria;
• Provide mechanical engineering support for the installation, setup, alignment, and commissioning of AMHS and semiconductor manufacturing equipment;
• Develop and verify mechanical acceptance criteria for equipment modules, motion sequences, alignment, fit, safety interlocks, guards, and related mechanical functions in coordination with equipment control teams;
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment problems, including misalignment, wear, vibration, jamming, off-track conditions, and slippage, and determine appropriate corrective actions;
• Perform root cause analysis of mechanical failures using engineering problem-solving methods and implement corrective and preventive actions;
• Standardize mechanical modules, fasteners, torque specifications, shims, jigs, lubrication requirements, and cleanliness standards, and maintain related revision-controlled engineering records;
• Define mechanical requirements for personal computer (“PC”)- and programmable logic controller (“PLC”)-based equipment control systems and verify motion settings, operating limits, and equipment interfaces;
• Specify and validate sensor locations and mechanical interfaces to ensure safe and reliable equipment operation and proper integration with related manufacturing systems;
• Develop and conduct mechanical performance analyses to identify equipment performance and reliability improvement opportunities; and
• Develop and implement mechanical engineering improvements to enhance equipment reliability, performance, maintainability, efficiency, and long-term asset life.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other closely related fields of study;
• At least eight (8) years of professional experience in mechanical design engineering or related mechanical engineering fields;
• Experience with mechanical design principles and analysis, including solid mechanics, vibration, fatigue, and structural integrity;
• Experience using Computer-Aided Design (“CAD”) and engineering analysis tools for mechanical equipment and systems;
• Experience with semiconductor manufacturing equipment, including design, maintenance, troubleshooting, or technical evaluation; and
• Experience in design review, equipment improvement, process improvement, or project leadership, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
