Job Description:
Reporting to the Director, Alumni Engagement, the Associate Director, Alumni Engagement is responsible for developing and overseeing a comprehensive strategy that seeks to engage UO alumni as well as current UO students, parents, and friends to help advance the mission of the UO Alumni Association and the University. This position develops, implements, and evaluates new or existing activities, programs, services, and communications that drive participation in alumni association programming including but not limited to geographic alumni chapters, affinity groups, professional groups, and both in-person and virtual events.
This individual will inspire volunteers to fulfill the organizational mission of moving alumni through progressive phases of alumni engagement. The Associate Director will represent the alumni association to a broad audience of alumni, donors, UOAA members, fellow Advancement staff, university partners, and campus administration.
This position requires work outside of regular business hours (evenings and weekends) approximately 20% of the time.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
• Four years of full-time (or equivalent) experience in program management.
• Three years of professional experience in higher education or a nonprofit organization.
Professional Competencies
• Ability to design and manage projects, work effectively with others and to develop strategies to achieve operating goals.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present publicly.
• Success in managing relationships, especially with volunteer leaders, including outreach, cold calling, and setting expectations.
• Experience planning complex meetings and events.
• Ability to set priorities and work with diplomacy and efficiency in a high-demand environment.
• A strong sense of financial accountability and the ability to manage resources with prudence and efficiency.
• Commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Ability to collaborate with multiple internal and external colleagues as well as third-party vendors.
• Ability to work with changing priorities and multiple projects.
• Must be able to handle confidential information with excellent judgement and discretion.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Ability to work and travel and work nights and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
• Professional experience within alumni relations in a higher education setting.
• Experience working in professional roles in higher education at the University of Oregon or similar institution.
• Demonstrated connection to or familiarity with the University of Oregon.
