Job Description:
• Monitor and Analyze Major U.S. Trade and Industrial Policy Issues:
- Monitoring and analyzing U.S. trade and industrial policy developments affecting the steel and manufacturing industries, including Section 232 tariffs, issues related to the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (“USMCA”), International Emergency Economic Powers Act (“IEEPA”) tariffs, and related trade measures;
- Tracking developments in Korea-U.S. trade arrangements, country-specific trade negotiations, and cross-border investment trends relevant to POSCO America’s business operations;
- Evaluating the potential business implications of such trade and policy developments and identifying key issues, risks, and opportunities for management consideration;
• Prepare Reports and Share Trade Policy Updates with Relevant Internal Departments:
- Preparing written reports, briefings, and policy summaries regarding major U.S. trade issues and developments;
- Reporting trade and policy updates through internal management review materials, steel marketing monthly meetings, planning reports, and other internal communication channels;
- Communicating relevant findings and policy implications to related departments to support coordinated business and strategic decision-making;
• Support Outreach Planning and Execution for Headquarters and P-America Management:
- Assisting in the planning and execution of outreach initiatives for headquarters and POSCO America management concerning major U.S. trade and policy matters;
- Preparing background materials, issue summaries, and briefing documents for management meetings, external engagements, and strategic outreach activities;
- Coordinating internally to ensure that outreach activities are aligned with POSCO America’s trade-policy objectives and business priorities;
• Conduct and Report on Outreach Related to U.S. Trade Issues with External Stakeholders:
- Supporting and conducting outreach related to U.S. trade and industrial policy issues involving relevant external stakeholders;
- Communicating with outside stakeholders regarding trade-policy matters affecting the company’s steel and manufacturing interests;
• Provide Advisory Support on Steel and Manufacturing Policy Issues:
- Responding to inquiries concerning U.S. trade, steel, and manufacturing policy issues and related regulatory developments;
- Providing research-based guidance and policy support regarding the U.S. trade environment and its impact on POSCO America’s business operations and strategy;
• Coordinate with Outside Advisors and Monitor Consultant Updates:
- Participating in and coordinating regular meetings with outside advisors and consultants, including reviewing key policy updates and strategic implications;
- Reporting the principal content of consultant updates to management; and
• Managing and supporting collaboration with think tanks, industry associations, and trade organizations, including the Federal Maritime Commission (“FMC”), the National Foreign Trade Council (“NFTC”), and similar entities, to gather information and support the company’s trade-policy objectives.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Public Policy, Economics, Business, Commerce, or other closely related field of study, and at least three (3) years of relevant experience;
- Analytical and research skills in trade policy, industrial policy, regulatory developments, and cross-border business issues;
- Ability to prepare reports, briefings, and policy summaries for internal stakeholders and management; and
- Knowledge of United States and international trade issues, such as tariffs, trade agreements, regulatory developments, or engagement with government agencies, industry associations, and other stakeholders.
