Job Description:
Pringle Stables is seeking a reliable, experienced, and resourceful Assistant Barn Manager to support daily stable operations, horse care, barn maintenance, and property management.
The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of hands-on horse handling and care experience, along with practical knowledge of tractor and four-wheeler operation, stall maintenance, and general farm or barn upkeep.
This is a hands-on position for someone who takes initiative, works independently, and understands the importance of maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized environment for horses. The successful candidate must be comfortable working outdoors throughout all four seasons and capable of adapting to changing weather conditions, including extreme heat, rain, snow, ice, and freezing temperatures.
The Assistant Barn Manager will receive training on Pringle Stables' specific procedures and expectations. We are looking for someone with a strong foundation in horse care who can apply sound judgment, troubleshoot routine problems, and help keep daily operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities1. Horse Care and Welfare
Oversee and assist with daily horse care routines, including feeding, watering, turnout, bringing horses in, and general monitoring.
Handle horses safely and confidently, recognizing changes in behavior, appetite, mobility, or overall health.
Monitor horses for signs of illness, injury, discomfort, dehydration, or distress and promptly report concerns.
Follow established care plans and assist with routine medication or other care as directed.
Ensure horses have access to clean water, appropriate shelter, and safe living conditions.
Maintain consistent horse-care standards and help ensure routines are completed reliably.
2. Barn and Stall Management
Ensure stalls are cleaned regularly, soiled bedding and manure are removed, and clean bedding is maintained.
Maintain cleanliness.
