Architect I Job

Solomon Cordwell Buenz is looking for Architects I in its Chicago, IL office. A qualified applicant will be Contributing to the general preparation of design and technical drawings, design representations, and studies of various types as directed by project leaders; Preparing technical drawings, design representations, design renderings using AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Lumion, and InDesign; Exhibiting understanding of general project design philosophy and adhering to this philosophy in performance of assigned work; Organizing work efforts and self-monitoring time spent on tasks; Communicating internally and with outside parties regarding specific tasks and project related questions; Exhibiting basic understanding of general building materials and systems, details and construction techniques; Understanding basic zoning, building and accessibility code requirements and applying this criteria in work performed; Contributing to team effort by cooperative and interactive working methods; Seeking input and direction from supervisor at appropriate times while striving to generate solutions independently; Understanding and conforming work to SCB office standards, including CAD standards and working drawing procedures; Checking accuracy of own work product; and working effectively ion a team to support the project and studio team constructively at all times. Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or foreign degree equivalent in Architecture and One year’s experience in position or one year’s experience in Architecture field; and Experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Lumion, and InDesign. Must be licensed Architect in Illinois. Benefits include PTO, 401(k) and insurance. Telecommuting/Hybrid may be permitted within commuting distance of Chicago office. Salary: $82,000 to $90,000/year.
