Job description:
Position: Apprentice painter and decorator
Number of positions available: 1
Work Hours: 40 hours per week
Wage: $26.00/hour
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Start date: ASAP
Vacation time: As per law
Work Location: Various job locations in Victoria.
Language of work: English
Key duties and Responsibilities
• Assist in reading and interpreting specifications to determine the required quantities of materials.
• Help prepare and clean surfaces by scraping, sanding, steam-cleaning, or other methods; assist in removing old wallpaper and loose paint; support in repairing cracks and holes; sand surfaces and apply sealers under supervision.
• Learn to mix and thin paints to achieve the proper colour, consistency, and finish.
• Apply paints and coatings such as stains, varnishes, lacquers, enamels, or protective finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment, under guidance.
• Support in measuring, cutting, and applying wallpaper or decorative coverings to walls.
• Assist in assembling, setting up, and dismantling scaffolding and swing stages.
• Observe and gradually develop the ability to advise customers on colour schemes and wall finishes.
• Learn to prepare basic cost estimates and material lists with supervision.

• Hand-eye coordination
• Physical demanding: bending crouching and kneeling, ability to lift up to 23 kg
• Steel-toed safety boots, Hard hat, Safety glasses.
