We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing financial statements and other documents to ensure compliance with Accounting standards for Non-Profit organizations and Canadian GAAP. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the organization’s financial integrity.
Job duties:
•Maintain accounts receivable records to ensure aging is up to date, credits and collections are applied, uncollectible amounts are accounted for, and miscellaneous differences are cleared.
•Perform daily cash management duties, including the recording of bank deposits, updating and distribution of cash receipt logs, and posting of cash to the accounts receivable sub-ledger.
•Prepare and record bank and month-end journal entries.
•Prepare accounts reconciliations on monthly basis.
•Maintain up to date rent records including the vacancy and outstanding rent listing.
•Assist Senior Director of Finance with the month-end and year-end process including generation of consolidated and department financials and other reports.
•Support the annual Audit with Account Reconciliations, Aged AR Report and other Audit documentation.
•Any additional duties assigned by Senior Director of Finance.
Education and Experience requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
•Solid proficiency in Office 365, especially Excel and accounting software.
•SAGE 50 experience.
•3 - 5 years of experience in general accounting tasks.
Skills for the job:
•Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills, and the ability to answer questions and solve problems.
•Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
•Responsible and able to work independently.
•Maintain confidentiality and time management.
•Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects concurrently.
•Experience in finance within a not-for-profit organization as an asset.
•Demonstrated administration and customer service skills.
