• Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the activities of the accounting department for the transportation and logistics business.
• Develop and implement accounting policies, financial controls and reporting procedures to support trucking operations.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, budgets and management reports.
• Monitor company cash flow, operating expenses, fuel costs, fleet maintenance expenses and other transportation-related expenditures.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely processing of customer invoices and vendor payments.
• Supervise payroll processing for drivers, office staff and other employees, ensuring compliance with applicable employment standards.
• Coordinate budgeting and financial forecasting to support fleet expansion and business operations.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and other applicable federal and provincial financial reporting requirements.
• Monitor financial records related to vehicle purchases, leasing, insurance, permits and licensing expenses.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and implement recommendations to strengthen financial controls.
• Supervise, train and evaluate accounting staff to ensure efficient financial operations.
• Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to senior management to improve profitability, reduce operating costs and support business growth.
