Objective: I am a young (25 year-old) evangelical who believes in the infallible word of God. I am a recent graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary in the Masters of Divinity program (which is not known for being an evangelical seminary, but which many evangelicals attend because it is the most affordable seminary in the nation!). I also graduated with honors from the University of California in Santa Cruz with a Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy. Throughout my MA and BA programs I volunteered with local youth groups, organized local trips, led Sunday youth gatherings with bible studies, preaching, and worship on guitar. I have a strong grasp on problem solving and interpersonal skills. I work with precision and clarity. I work great as a leader, and as a team member. I have extensive ministry experience with adults, college students, high- school, and junior high students. I worked at two solid churches as an intern for my M.Div. degree. Those involved preaching, teaching bible classes, and leading missions-trips. I have also worked as a tutor for graduate students at Princeton Seminary, and as a teacher’s assistant for an introductory logic course at UC Santa Cruz. More importantly, I love my Lord, and am profoundly thankful for this gracious gift of life. I also like reading academic philosophy of religion, theology, poetry, fantasy, and rock-climbing, working with my hands, and bicycling.
Experience: From 10/12 to present I am a security guard for Bayside Patrol and Investigative Services. This is a low-risk security guard assignment which allows me plenty of time to pray, and some time to read (but no sleeping allowed!).
From 6/12 to present, I am a pastoral intern as Saratoga Presbyterian Church. So far I helped lead a short-term missions trip to Guatemala, started a Sunday youth program for Jr high students, and preached to both services (traditional and contemporary) two times each. I also was in charge of leading worship and organizing a renewal-of- faith weekend we held at our church. I currently lead youth and young adult programs, organize retreats and trips, lead worship when needed, and generally help wherever I am able.
During the academic year of 2011-2012 I was an intern for the Young Life ministry at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. This involved organizing outreach trips, training leaders, going to Christian camps, leading worship, and leading a men’s disciple group. I did extensive outreach, making lasting connections with about 20 non- churched students.
During the summer of 2011, I was a full-time intern at Westerly Road Church in Princeton, NJ as the youth intern. I led adult Sunday school classes, youth gatherings, local trips, men’s bible studies, and co-led a trip to Haiti.
From September of 2010 to December of 2010, I worked for Princeton Theological Seminary’s writing center, offering help in writing analytic essays on topics in history, philosophy, and theology. It was humbling to offer advice and help to such a range of great minds, especially the powerfully intelligent and spiritually devout foreign students who needed help with the tricky parts English grammar.
In addition to these, I have worked as a teacher’s assistant for an introductory logic course at UC Santa Cruz for three different classes. I was a teacher’s assistant once during the spring quarter from January 2009 to March 2009 and twice during the summer quarter from June 2009 to August 2009. Being a teacher’s assistant involves leading discussion sections students, holding office hours in order to work with students in need of extra instruction and working with the professor and the other teacher’s assistants to grade midterms and finals. Most rewarding was that face that I was able to encourage some students who happened to be Christians whose faith was beginning to falter.
I have worked at three different summer camps across the United States as a counselor for middle school to high school aged campers. I was entrusted with keeping a cabin of young men safe during adventure activities (high ropes course, motorcycle-riding, riffle-shooting, etc.). I was also entrusted with teaching and leading in front of a large crowd. These positions were held at the following summer camps.
Frontier Ranch, In Scotts Valley, California from June to September in 2004.
Good Tidings Bible Camp, In Cornwalleville, New York from May to August in 2005
Mount Hermon, In Scotts Valley, California from June to September in 2007
I have also worked as a security officer for Enterprise Protective services. I was entrusted with guarding several different banks. I had this job from March of 2009 to July of 2009.
Education: Masters of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary (10/2012).
BA in Philosophy from UC Santa Cruz (11/2008).
Skills: I've played the guitar for ten years, and I'm a big fan of most out-doors activities, especially rock-clmibing and biking.
