Led the strategic planning of short-term
and long-term activities, conducting
meetings with managers, supervisors,
teachers, and other staff. Provided
expert oversight to program development,
budget planning, and management. Handled
the hiring, supervision, training, and
performance evaluation of staff.
Cultivated alliances and partnerships
with local, national, and international
organizations, agencies, and
universities. Managed the identification
and preparation of grant-funded
proposals.
- Successfully launched a pilot
program, a partnership between the
government of Cape Verde and the
council, which turned into a fully-
developed project, increasing the number
of scholarships along with its annual
budget for deserving students.
- Expanded the program from being
regional-based to a national one,
negotiating scholarships based on merit
and athleticism; and opened doors to
expand the program philosophy and invite
EU and African countries to participate.
- Guaranteed half of the annual
budget, done through effective
fundraising, donations, and service

- Ensured that program recipients
were properly validated; traveling to
supervise selection of students who
participated in the program either in
the US or Cape Verde, coordinating with
school principals all over the country
as well consulting with teachers
