Responsible for establishing quality policies, practices and procedures to assure satisfying all customer requirements. This includes monitoring their implementation and auditing the processes and systems to assure compliance. As the ISO/TS16949 (Originally QS-9000) Management Representative established and communicated the guidelines and documentation and all other aspects for the implementation process and continued maintenance of the certification. The plant was only the third facility in the State of Missouri to receive QS-9000 Certification.
Responsible for receiving, in-process, and outgoing quality audits, gage evaluation, system auditing, and Advanced Quality Planning.
Work closely with Engineering, customers, and subcontractors concerning raw materials and their requirements, including material specifications, and evaluations of such processes as casting, heat treating, coiling, coating, machining, metal stamping, and metal spraying. Note: includes working with suppliers in Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Sweden, Spain, and Japan

Quality Control Manager/ Personnel Manager
Setup and administered the complete Quality Control program for the divisional Machine and Tool Center, servicing twenty-eight plants, as well as subcontract work. This included the responsibility to train and direct inspectors in inspecting complex die parts with tolerances of .0001”
Performed machine audits on various high speed can making equipment requiring knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic and mechanical systems.
Represented the plant quality assurance interests for all projects, tests and studies involving new products or changes to existing products. Prepared process specification and operating instructions as well as make product improvements.
Besides my Quality Control responsibilities I also purchased all fasteners and perishable tooling. I settled grievances that could not be settled by the first line supervisors. I supervised the Central Storeroom Department and the Expediters. I was head of the Safety Committee.
In December 1986 after the closing of the facility in O’Fallon, I transferred to the manufacturing plant in Maryland Heights, MO, as Quality Control Manager. Besides working with customers and suppliers I worked on a project for the President of the Division using our plant as a pilot to change the manufacturing process over to using Statistical Process Control. This included using SPC for the blow molding of plastic bottles and high speed composite can making operations. I also incorporated SPC into Maintenance, Shipping, Receiving and Personnel Records.

Quality Control Manager
Responsible for establishing and maintaining a complete Quality Control program for the largest manufacturer of exercise bikes in the world. This included final quality responsibility for design, tooling, fabrication, assembly, inspection, packaging, storage and shipping. I supervised Receiving Inspection, Final Inspection, Audits, Tooling Verification, and Returned Goods Inspection.
My position also required liaison with Engineering, Plant Supervisors, Production Control, Purchasing, Suppliers, Sales, Customers, and Plant Personnel. I set standards, trained inspectors, evaluated suppliers and processes, and made product improvements.

Quality Control Engineer
Spent one year on the Bulk Mail Conveyor System Project establishing Quality Verification Tests, reviewing manufacturing instructions, performing Supplier Quality Surveys, source inspections, and compiling quality statistical analysis trends. During this time I spent three months in Los Angeles as the Quality Liaison with the project’s principle subcontractor.
I then was assigned to be Chairman of the Material Review Board. In this capacity my responsibilities included making disposition on all rejected purchased material and all rejected manufactured parts. Dispositions were determined with input from Methods Engineering, Production Supervisors, Inspection, Inspection Planning, Design Engineering, Procurement, and suppliers to prevent recurrence of the discrepancies.

In conjunction with a company reorganization my duties were expanded to include the instituting and carrying out a quality control program for the Cutting and Stamping Department. I served in this expanded capacity for thirteen months after which I was promoted to Staff Quality Engineer. In this position my duties included advising the Unit Quality Engineers, supervising the inspection of fixturing, coordinating new product testing and all final product inspection and testing.
