Objective:
Career Objective: To seek full time employment as a secondary biology teacher in a local or outside of the town and share my experiences as a teacher in various roles including a graduate assistant at Southern CT State University. Subtopics Covered: Organization, metabolism, responsiveness, reproduction and
classification of selected invertebrates and vertebrates.

Human Anatomy, 4 lab sections, Fall, 2008
Course Emphasis: Introduces pre-nursing, health, exercise science, and non-biology majors to the basic concepts and principles of biology through studies of the human organism. The lab consisted of the dissection and anatomy of the cat and comparison to the human anatomy. The lab also covered basics of human biological systems.

2001– 2009 WATERFORD BOARD OF EDUCATION – Waterford, CT
Substitute Teacher for all grades

Provide support to the school district in various grades and subjects including: PE, Health, Biology, General and Physical Science, LA, Foreign Language, and General Studies for lower grades. Execute teacher’s lesson plans by covering the material within the time frame established.

2001– 2006 EAST LYME BOARD OF EDUCATION – East Lyme, CT
Substitute Teacher for all grades

Provide support to the school district in various grades and subjects including: PE, Health, Biology, General and Physical Science, LA, Foreign Language, and General Studies for lower grades. Execute teacher’s lesson plans by covering the material within the time frame established.

Instructor’s Aid in Special Education (January – April 2002)

Instructor Aid in East Lyme Middle School. Assisted with several autistic students in main streamed classroom. Conducted a resource class for students from various teams. This included helping with their regular schoolwork, projects, and one on one with particular students that needed extra help in class. Remedial math instructor substitute. Tutor for after school homework program.

Long Term Substitute PE/Health (October 2002- January 2003)

Taught health and physical education at East Lyme High School for freshmen. Taught lessons using teacher’s plans and developed lessons for remaining classes including projects, quizzes, and exams.
Developed exercise lesson plans for upper class girls in PE.


2001– Present LYME-OLD LYME BOARD OF EDUCATION – Old Lyme, CT
Substitute Teacher and Administrator Assistant at Lyme-Old Lyme H.S.

Provide support to the school district in various grades and subjects including: PE, Health, Biology, General and Physical Science, LA, Foreign Language, and General Studies for lower grades. Execute teacher’s lesson plans by covering the material within the time frame established.

Environmental Science Teacher – (summer 2004)

Taught environmental science to students from different school districts that failed during the regular school year. Developed lesson plans for this eight-week course, which included a research paper, hands-on lab, weekly tests, field trip, and group project. First teacher to engage summer school students on a field trip which now is incorporated into the curriculum.

Long Term Administrator Assistant Substitute – (April 2005-August 2005)

Provided support to the assistant principal until permanent administrator assistant returned from medical leave of absence. Duties included: Fielding phone calls from parents, scheduling substitute teachers when needed, attendance monitoring, providing reports to the staff, and sorting mail. Assisting with disciplinary issues such as: students with excessive tardiness, writing and sending notices to parents on warnings, detentions, and suspensions. Assisted with senior graduation requirements for students graduating.

Improved the substitute handbook for the high school that is now being used by the teachers for their substitutes when they cover their classes.


2002 – 2009 MOHEGAN SUN CASINO AND HOTEL, Uncasville, CT
Customer Service Representative for Room Service (2004-2009)

Determine customer’s needs, maintain customer relations for room service, handle difficult customers effectively, and provide assistance in up-selling, customizing food requests to staff. Duties also include: training new customer service representative on phones, policies, room service procedures, and food and beverage system. Support all levels of management including hotel services, housekeeping services, butler services, and VIP services. Also regularly attend training sessions to update skills and improve knowledge industry.

Food and Beverage Cashier (2002-2004)

Cashier in casino owned restaurants on third shift. Duties included the following: Closing checks, tipping out servers, supporting management, extra shift work, cashier support, call-out shift coverage, and vacation coverage. Assist in training new cashiers in the policy and procedure of food and beverage cashiers.

Sales Associate – Women’s Shoe Dept. (2002-2006), Intimate Apparel (2000), Children’s Dept. (1997-2002, 2006), Sales Associate – Contingent (1996-1997)

Ambassador to new employees. Assisted new hires when placed on the sales floor. Trained them in the policy and procedures of the company and selling merchandise as well as cash register operation.
