Low Salinity Cyclic Water Injection for Enhanced Oil Recovery in Alaska North Slope (ANS)
- Developed an optimal water injection plan by conducting 37 coreflooding runs on 13 ANS cores using 5 sets of experiments, thereby studying fluid flow behavior and estimating rock properties
- Investigated the effect of oil-aging, varying brine salinity, pulsed cyclic flow intervals and coreflooding at reservoir conditions on rock wettability, residual oil saturation and oil recovery
- Recombined oil-gas to form live oil; synthesized lab re-constituted brines; measured petrophysical properties of ANS cores; conducted Amott tests to characterize wettability states of Alaskan reservoirs

- Awarded 2nd Prize in the 2009 SPE Western regional meeting student paper contest

Reservoir Simulation project using ECLIPSE
- Constructed a black-oil model of an anticlinal sandstone reservoir, charted out a systematic depletion plan, assessed different techniques (gas injection, directional drilling, waterflooding etc.) & implemented an EOR method to maximize recovery of hydrocarbons, bounded by an economic study
- Rated as the ‘most practical’ economically feasible project

Stable Foam Drilling through Permafrost
- Studied various problems (hydrate instability, well hole sloughing, issues with cementing etc.) faced during Arctic drilling through temperature sensitive permafrost
- Appraised foam drilling for its faster drilling times & low heat capacity; documented a case study of field applications and guidelines in choosing parameters for foam synthesis

Alaska North Slope (ANS) lake water for Oil Recovery
- Based on Arctic hydrology cycle & seasonal water balance, quantified ANS lake water volumes available for commercial use (considering govt. regulations); highlighted injection water salinity effects on oil recovery & estimated % volumes of excess water from a sample ANS lake required to dilute field produced/sea water for injection

Petroleum Geology of Bombay High, India
- Extensively surveyed literature & interpreted the geological system of Bombay High with focus on systems event chart, folds & faults, depositional environment, petroleum systems, identification of hydrocarbon bearing zones, study on logs & liquids present and petrophysical properties of rocks

Interference and Pulse Testing
- Studied the concepts for different problem sets; summarized the application of pressure transient testing in the prediction of well connectivity & areal fluid flow, estimation of permeability & boundary conditions, and reservoir delineation
- Submitted a case study on implementation of pulse testing in Badri field to inspect pressure response in gauging injector-producer communication; documented innovations in pulse testing with noise suppressing & significance of pressure change on flowing bottomhole temperature
