To obtain a position as an Administrative Assistant or Human Resources Assistant.

Worked as a Human Resources Assistant for 2 years and I have a wide range of general HR skills and knowledge.
Worked for a year and a half as an Operations Manager running an office and a staff of 38.
Spent 10 years with the Illinois Department of Corrections. Many of those years serviing as a Training Instructor and Coordinator.

Associates Degree and many additional college courses.

In my most recent position as a Human Resources Assistant I performed the following tasks; applicant resume and application review, interviewing, hiring (included working with local temporary agencies), and employee orientation. My office dealt with employee progressive discipline, including dismissals. Other responsibilities were completing the bi-weekly full time employee payroll and weekly temporary employee payroll, and tracking employee time usage (sick/vacation/compensatory). I acted as the go between for employee enrollment, questions and support for company benefits with our third party providers. All of this required that the information be precise and accurate.
I have many skills that apply to an office environment; I have multi line phone experience, familiar with all types of office equipment, some accounts receivable and payable, data entry (13,000 key strokes and hour), at last testing I type 43 words a minute, and I am proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. I have used PowerPoint to create presentations and Publications to create company newsletters and brochures. I have created and maintained reports, company forms, employee handbooks, company safety manuals and many procedure manuals. I have also been in charge of insuring that employee’s files were accurate and up to date.
