Objective: At this time I am seeking a position which will get me back in the lab running experiments. Before being laid off from my recent position in Quality at Caliper Life Sciences I was focused on lab automation, a new skill that compliments my background in assay development. It has been a valuable learning experience; but one that has made me miss hands on experimenting.
Experience: Caliper Life Sciences 20072009 Hopkinton, MA Create and execute application based test plans for lab automation software and liquid handlers as part of development lifecycle. Product Test Scientist
Develop and recommend test strategies to verify the product performance and functionality and provide suggestions for future upgrades. Design, document, execute test procedures; and isolate failures for R&D to address. Identify discrepancies between the products design specifications and the Product Test Plan. Debug complex issues and performs fault investigation on reported defects to determine root cause. Work closely with engineering to ensure proper resolution of anomalies. Provide feedback on user interface design from a customer perspective. Provide regular test status reports during the Project schedule. Complete the required final test reports necessary for release of the Product. Coordinate testing with outsourced company (train, prioritize, troubleshoot and communicate progress to project team). Method Development and programming on automated laboratory robots and liquid handlers.
Perkin Elmer LAS 20062007 Boston, MA Worked as a team member in two dynamic groups, utilized Luminexs xMAPฎ technology as well as BAC clone aCGH. Scientist I
Designed and executed Comparative Genomic Hybridization (aCGH) experiments on bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) clone arrays to determine reagent stability. Organized project to improve existing aCGH protocols taking into consideration customer feedback. Collected data analyzed results and reported findings to management. Developed presentations to be incorporated into senior management discussions/presentations. Substrate spotting utilizing Genetix QArrayMini Microarrayer. Random primer DNA labeling. Multiplex cytokine assay development on xMAP platform focusing on assay sensitivity. Antibody pair qualification and optimization. Provided Sales support for customer demonstration at John Hopkins University.
Decision Biomarkers 20052006 Waltham, MA Collaborated to develop the first fully-automated, multiplex immunoassay system. Research Associate / Senior Research Associate, Lab Administrator
Developed and ran static, fluid and automated protein microarray assays, focusing on cytokine and cancer biomarker panel optimization. Conducted in-depth analysis of research experiments, assisted in report writing and summarizing data. Substrate spotting utilizing PerkinElmer Piezorray Non-contact Microarraying System. Worked with breadboard instruments, proprietary/ commercial instruments and lab equipment. Conducted independent research projects for assay development. Ran and analyzed Elisas to qualify reagents. Troubleshot instrumentation and biological assay issues as required. Authored SOPs and modified protocols. Worked to reach cGMP compliance. Trained technicians including sample, buffer preparation and aliquoting. Maintained laboratory inventory; ordered supplies.
Boston Scientific 20022004 Natick, MA Worked in an analytical lab supporting Corporate R&D, responsibilities included running customer samples and auditing data. Consultant (contract)
Utilized routine analysis including: Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) Optical Interferometry Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) Coating thickness measurements Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) Digital Image capture and analysis Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) Film compression & casting Optical Microscopy Sample preparation Employed various methodologies to collect and review data and provided sound documentation of work conducted. Implemented improvements to existing methods and procedures. Authored new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Audited final reports of Kinetic Drug Release (KDR) and Content Assay for accuracy.
Cetek Corporation 20012002 Marlborough, MA Assay development prospecting natural extracts for novel, patentable compounds as drug lead candidates using HTS CE. HTS Operator I/II Developed high-throughput screening capillary electrophoresis (HTS CE) assays. Transferred assays to production, assisted operators in getting systems running. Operated and maintained both general laboratory and proprietary (Gemini HTS CE) equipment. Problem solved instrument and chemistry errors and issues. Worked with engineers and chemists in a developmental capacity on various projects such as developing assay conditions for improving the detection of binding interactions, instrument and software enhancements. Bench top work included: preparation of buffers, samples and other reagents as required. Rebuild capillary cartridges. Supervised a group of seven operators as needed. Training of new personnel including safety, documentation, buffer, reagent and sample preparation. Ensured continuity of priorities and scheduling of people and experiment scheduling between shifts.
