Additional Information:
I am a student at UC Santa Cruz and throughout high school I was an active member of the National FFA Organization. I would like to express my interest in the Workshop Presenter position for the Made for Excellence Leadership Conference. All in all, this position seems like a great opportunity for me to work in a field that I truly enjoy and also give me the opportunity to further expand on the presentation and classroom management skills that I already possess.

As a student in high school I achieved academic excellence by maintaining a GPA of above 3.5 for four years. I was involved in various different clubs and held leadership positions in several of them which taught me how to stay organized and manage time effectively. I also participated in several public speaking contests and made state finals numerous times. I am very easy to work with and communicate well with others. I am a young person who is full of ideas and am willing to go above and beyond to make things the best that they can be. I am not one to sit around and wish for the best; I get out there and make things happen.

As a Regional and Sectional Officer in the FFA I have delivered many workshops at our conferences. This has given me the opportunity to present my ideas and work with students all around the state of California. In my Chapter I researched and delivered speeches on Agriculture topics such as Ag Literacy and have reached out to many individuals. I have promoted Agriculture in our society and even improved Ag awareness to groups of both adolescents as well as adults.

This past summer I took the opportunity to work as a camp counselor at the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Camp. At Camp RYLA it was one of my responsibilities to always keep young campers focused and positively motivated. I was also able to hold workshops and deep discussions where we discussed topics such as agriculture, racial discrimination, and politics. Working with a team of 28 counselors taught me to work cooperatively. The response from the campers at the end of camp was very positive. This is why I believe that I am well-suited for a position with MFE.

I am interested in participating in the MFE conference and learning more about the Agriculture industry. Unfortunately because of family circumstances I was unable to attend a university that is more agriculturally based like UC Davis or Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. However, at UC Santa Cruz I am interning at a farm and I am working on bringing livestock to the campus. Right now, I plan on transferring to one of the more agriculturally focused universities that I already mentioned, where Id like to pursue a double major in political science and agribusiness in hopes of someday working for the Department of Agriculture to fight Ag illiteracy.

My enclosed resume further illustrates my educational background. I look forward to meeting with you to discuss the position at your earliest convenience. You can reach me at the address above or by phone at (408) 422-4921.
