Job Description:

We are looking to add an integral member to our QA team. The focus of this Data QA Engineer position will be configuration, integration, and analytical testing in a Government-Approved Lab environment. As a QA Test Engineer, you will be responsible for validating new or modified data, data ingestion protocols, reports, and user-interfaces of products built with various technology solutions to ensure the correctness of data flowing through each stage of the product process. You will be working with other members of our QA team, engineers, and end customers while providing testing support throughout the entire software development life cycle, in order to deliver high quality products and data services to our customers.


Responsibilities:


General



  • Provides input to requirements and sprint planning to design, implement, and conduct system acceptance, load, and regression testing to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Develops, executes, and maintains manual test cases and test plans that validate DoD/VA healthcare data and maintain HIPAA requirements.

  • Able to work in an agile, fast-paced environment.

  • Evaluates, recommends, and implements automated test tools and strategies where possible.

  • Serves as subject matter specialist providing testing know-how for the support of user requirements of complex to highly complex software/hardware applications.

  • Directs and/or participates in all phases of risk management assessments and software/hardware development with emphasis on analysis of user requirements, test design, and test tools selection.


Database



  • Analyzes and queries multiple, complex databases.

  • Verifies databases are set up and populated with the correct test data.


Process Management



  • Works with developers, SMEs, product owners, to understand business requirements and resolve application issues.

  • Develops, maintains, and updates reporting and documentation for testing efforts, results, activities, data logging, and tracking.

  • Develops, enhances, and documents UI and API testing methodologies.

  • Escalates critical findings and issues to project leadership.


Test Plan Execution



  • Estimates schedule requirements, prioritizes test criteria, and plans and coordinates testing activities.

  • Executes manual and/or automated component, functional, system, integration, performance, and regression testing according to the test plan and establishes timelines.

  • Leverages technical and analytical skills and tools to assist in resolving database responsiveness issues.


Project Management



  • Manages time and expectations in the execution of quality assurance efforts meeting all deliverables.

  • Communicates test progress, results, and project relevant information to team members and management on a frequent basis.

  • Reviews requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, data science, or similar science or engineering discipline or extensive relevant experience.

  • Data Analyst background experienced in multiple dialects of SQL, Excel, and basic understanding of relational databases.

  • Familiarity with automated and manual software testing tools and frameworks.

  • Experience with version control software such as Git or Subversion.

  • Experience using Jira.

  • Experience authoring test plans.

  • Experience on an Agile development team with rapid iterations.

  • Experience analyzing requirements and automating test plans.

  • Good scripting skills and ability to learn new programming languages.

  • Strong writing and communication skills with keen attention to detail.

  • Experience with health data and HIPAA requirements highly desirable.

  • Experience with TeraData/Talend is a plus.

  • Experience testing cloud applications is a plus.
