Working with a well-respected family-owned Equipment Company that is looking to bring on a Territory Sales Manager to cover a territory.


Territory Sales Representative Job - Farm Equipment


The goal of the Territory Sales Representative is to effectively continue the expansion of the existing customer base. The Territory Sales Representative must possess diverse abilities to develop & grow mutually beneficial business relationships with a wide array of potential customers and dealers. They must also oversee and build customer satisfaction assuring long-term account goals.


We are seeking an individual that has excellent selling, problem-solving, customer service, and business development skills. This person will partner with our dealers to grow market share. In this role, you will recruit new dealers, train dealers and their staff, and if needed terminate a dealer's agreement. You will be responsible for building market share, dealer accounts, sales forecasting, as well as business planning, assuring the profitable growth of the assigned territory.


Duties/Job Functions


The ideal candidate will be expected to:



  • Actively call on and provide information to dealers on promotions and programs.

  • Assist our dealers in developing marketing plans and dealer specific marketing promotions to drive retail sales growth.

  • Regularly conduct "follow-ups" in person via dealer calls, and/or remotely via phone, and/or through email regarding any items necessary to promote positive dealer relationships.



  • Develop and demonstrate a strong product and technical knowledge that is passed on to the dealer and dealer's customers of equipment so as to be an effective product and brand advocate.

  • Develop and achieve personal business goals working in conjunction with the company sales manager to develop and accurately forecast expected sales, detailed activity schedules and set challenging yet achievable goals for the fiscal year, quarter, and month on a rolling basis.


Skills/Qualifications and Experience



  • Have 5 plus years' experience in Agricultural Equipment Sales;

  • Experience in agriculture is preferred but not required;

  • Be extremely comfortable dealing at the senior account level of salesmanship;

  • Possess strong direct sales skills and experience;

  • Knowledge of standard agriculture equipment dealer business practices preferred;

  • Have knowledge and experience working with distributors, dealers as well as end-users of agricultural equipment;

  • Have demonstrated the ability to grow sales in an outside sales capacity, preferring both retail and wholesale experience with successful proven growth. A good general understanding of retail finance is required;

  • Must be retail sales-focused to help dealers continue to keep inventory retail selling to end-users;

  • You must bring strong negotiating skills and a proven ability to close.

  • Must have excellent communication skills, with a strong mechanical aptitude and reasoning;

  • Must have experience crafting and presenting effective proposals;

  • Be competitive with the ability to promote products in creative, persistent, and proactive ways;

  • Have a hands-on approach in demonstrating equipment to the dealer and customers is required;

  • Retail Ag Sales experience to end-users is a strong advantage;

  • Must be committed to customer service excellence;

  • Have strong relationship building skills and ability to adapt to changing dealer/customer needs;

  • Possess a passion for innovative farm equipment with the ability to sell added value and ROI;

  • A highly ambitious individual that is willing to travel and enjoys this aspect of the job;

  • Must have the ability to plan and meet the travel needs of the sales territory effectively (generally 50% overnight travel required) and have good time management skills;

  • Be willing to attend internal and external Sales Training programs as well as industry events to ensure continuous professional development;

  • Possess a high level of professional integrity and principles.
