Job Description:

Job Purpose and Summary

In collaboration with the leadership, manages, evaluates and advances enterprise risk management activities. Liaise with senior leadership to more effectively drive risk management discussions. Create committee and Board level presentations. Constantly stay abreast of new laws/regulations, groundbreaking ideas/techniques that will add value to both the Medical center and Medical Group. Ensure effective use of time and departmental goals are achieved. Manage investigations as needed.

Minimum Education/Training Required

  • RN, NP or clinical background, Masters, and/or Juris Doctor

Minimum Experience Required

  • Five or more years of relevant experience at a higher education, healthcare institution or large consulting firm, or combination of education and relevant experience

  • Proficiency using the Microsoft Office suite

  • 3-5 years insurance experience with a focus on large commercial property and casualty insurance

  • Knowledge of internal controls and ERM frameworks

  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, analytical, critical thinking, written and oral communication skills

  • Attention to detail and a healthy respect for quality work products and timelines

  • Experience in managing projects and working with diverse groups

  • Excellent judgment and sound decision-making to obtain viable solutions and demonstrate initiative

  • Ability to work independently; requires little supervision on all but unique matters

  • Ability to recommend changes in policy or practice based on new data or situations

License, Registration or Certification Required

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) required or must be obtained within two (2) years of hire date

  • Professional designations in Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or Chartered Property Casual Underwriter (CPCU) a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of national healthcare trends, multi-disciplinary professional practice models, information systems, quality management, and customer service needs

  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of risk management, patient safety and/or PI

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirement, state and federal laws

  • Work efficiently and effectively in a matrix structured environment

  • Must possess strong presentation and interpersonal skills that display a presence of clinical knowledge in a wide range of settings

  • Must possess skills and understanding of hospital clinical healthcare operations and quality data management

  • Experience with quality and safety, driving improvement, patient experience and risk assessment skills

  • Efficiently problem solve, while dealing with a diverse set of systems and individuals

  • Excellent verbal and communication skills

  • Experience managing and consulting to cross-functional and interdisciplinary teams within a hospital and/or clinic environment

  • Appreciation of compliance needs but demonstrated leader in outcomes-driven quality improvement

  • Persuasive and motivational leader who can collaborate effectively to drive results

  • Ability to lead progressive, competent, and quality health care through teamwork of the faculty and staff.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (or similar product line) and knowledge of databases and related statistical/analytical methodologies especially power point, excel proficiency

  • Ability to interact effectively with physicians, patients and employees at all levels of the organizational hierarchy

  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential issues
