DEFINITION:
Under supervision of the Recreation Supervisor or Coordinator; to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate the
Summertime Fun Club, Summer Teen Pack or Teens Helping Seniors program. Our Summer Camps serve
Woodland by providing provides fun and safe activities for youth and teens in the community over the summer
break. The Teens Helping Seniors program provides assistance to the senior community in Woodland.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
The following are typical illustrations of duties encompassed by the job class; not an all-inclusive or limiting list:
SUMMERTIME FUN CLUB/SUMMER TEEN PACK:
Monitor a group of 1st – 6th (STFC)or 7th – 8th (STP) grade participants
Oversee all Activity Managers, Leaders and volunteers
Plan and coordinate staff training, special events, trips, and team building activities
Direct arts and crafts activities, sports, games, drama, music, dance, and other activities as needed
Manage issues and discipline participants and staff when necessary
TEENS HELPING SENIORS:
Monitor a group of 6th – 9th grade volunteers
Plan and coordinate daily trips and team building activities
Schedule daily work shifts for volunteers and coordinate appointments with seniors
Manage issues and discipline participants and staff when necessary

QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
Appropriate and interesting activities for 1st – 6th OR 6th – 9th participants
 Emergency procedures, First Aid, and CPR. Community Services Department offers a presummer certification class

Skill to:
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Operate office equipment, including a personal computer
Apply First Aid/CPR methods and safety precautions related to assigned activities.

Ability to:
Maintain enthusiasm and high spirits while working with youth and teens
Develop cooperative public relations with the community
Remain calm in stressful situations
Be consistent with enforcing rules and regulations
Maintain authority and control over activities


Job Requirements:
Minimum Education and Experience:
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent. College coursework in Recreation, Child Development,
Education, or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
One (1) years of increasingly responsible experience in the delivery of recreation services, youth
services, or a related field.
License and Certificates:
Required upon hire, possession of a valid California Driver’s License and current American Red
Cross First Aid and CPR Certification.
SALARY SCHEDULE: $15.50-$16.50 per hour (depending on qualifications)

The City of Woodland's Community Services Department is accepting applications for employment. The

All of these positions are temporary part time. Temporary employees work no more than 130 hours in a
month and 960 hours in a Fiscal Year.
The pay cycle is monthly. Pay day is the last working day of the month. With the exception of worker's
compensation coverage and sick leave, no other benefits compensations are provided. Employees must
contribute 1.45% of salary to Medicare and 7.5% to a retirement plan in accordance with Federal Law.
THE ABILITY TO SPEAK AND UNDERSTAND SPANISH IS A
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION FOR ALL POSITIONS.
