Air Service Development Consulting Project Manager:

Location: Open to any CMT office, based on the Candidate's preference.

We are looking for a strong analyst and communicator who is motivated to join the team and take on an exciting and challenging opportunity as Air Service Development (ASD) Consulting Project Manager. The successful candidate will perform core aspects of CMT's air service practice including business development, analysis, report development, presentations and client management.

You'll have the responsibility to manage a variety of projects, collaboration with staff including mentorship, develop a pipeline of opportunities, and to work with clients in a trusted advisor role:

  • Participate in the business development process. This includes development of statements of qualifications, client visits, interview participation, scope and fee development and contract preparation.

  • Analysis of aviation and economic data from the U.S. DOT and other related sources, including client-based tourism and economic development organizations, for domestic and international air service.

  • Conduct quantitative analysis of air service market conditions, analyses of passenger and/or cargo volumes, traffic flows, yield analyses, demographic profiles, route forecasts (including projected growth in markets, demographic projections, etc.) historical data, and analysis of airports and city-pairs using a variety of tools and industry data sources.

  • Prepare monthly or quarterly air service data statistical reports for clients, including ad hoc passenger/cargo research and analyses.

  • Develop analytical exhibits and formulate exhibits/presentations related to assigned projects to meet the needs of the specific audience (airport, airline, or local client-based stakeholders).

  • Presentation of prepared materials to airlines or clients at industry conferences, airline HDQ visits, community outreach meetings, or conference calls.

  • Serve as an extension of the client's team. Be available as needed to assist and advise our air service clients through all stages of their air service development journey.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of 1) domestic and international passenger air service markets, 2) passenger air services operations including practices/procedures, and 3) industry data sources to conduct quantitative analysis market conditions.

  • Broad familiarity of the air service opportunities and risks facing regional, small, medium, and large hub airports.

  • Considerable understanding of current airline route development decision-making criteria.

  • Ability to ingest large amounts of data from different sources, analyze it, and eventually transform it into a narrative that can be communicated to a wide variety of audiences

  • Familiarity with local and federal legislative rules, regulations, and policies pertinent to air service development; such as airport slots, international freedoms of the air, on-time performance metrics, airport use-and-lease agreements, crew requirements (duty time, flight training hours), etc.

  • Existing or ability to develop close working relationships with clients, client community leaders, and airline representatives.


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in marketing, aviation management, or a related field - or equivalent industry experience.

  • Five plus years (5+) related experience in one or more of the following areas: airline network planning, air service development consulting, airline revenue management or financial analysis, or other equivalent position related to the analysis of passenger air service data or route planning. Direct experience working in airline network planning or air service development is preferred.

  • Must be a motivated self-starter able to deliver quality projects on time with minimal direction.
