As the fifth attorney hire for our legal department, the Vice President, Corporate Counsel position will be a key resource for AssetMark, with the opportunity to assist with significant regulatory and compliance issues that come with being a leading stand-alone wealth management company publicly listed on the NYSE. In this newly created role reporting to the Associate General Counsel, you will use your experience in securities laws, regulatory counseling, and compliance support, as well as fortify your legal knowledge, particularly as it relates to the development of the business strategy for an investment advisory platform with over $57 billion in assets. As a Corporate Counsel based in our Concord, CA office (across the street from BART!), your primary responsibilities will be to 1) assist with the development of new projects, 2) provide regulatory guidance and analysis, and 3) be a part of a strong and collegial legal and compliance team that tackles issues arising daily, including the negotiation of various contracts and client agreements, broker-dealer, investment adviser and mutual fund regulatory compliance issues, as well other corporate matters that may suit your prior experience or interest. Direct legal experience in securities laws is strongly preferred. Experience in the securities brokerage, investment advisory or mutual funds industry is also preferred, coupled with your desire to be challenged and broaden your legal acumen. A superior communicator, you will gain exposure to most, if not all, areas of the law as you work with our attorneys and internal teams in multiple locations on a variety of challenging legal issues. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and sound business sense, coupled with your proactive, hands-on approach, will lead you to advancement.
