Summary of Responsibilities:
The CYS Caseworker participates in both formal and informal training programs which provide basic knowledge of methods, procedures, rules, and regulations necessary to perform social service and casework services to children, youth, and families to assist them in attaining a more satisfactory social, economic, emotional or physical adjustment. The work is limited in scope at the beginning of employment and increased as the knowledge and skill increase.
Services are provided in accordance with all existing policies, procedures, and regulations and in accord with the mission and values of the company.
Learns availability of local resources to assist children, youth and families and the referral processes for the serving agencies through observation of more senior staff and through supervision.
Receives instruction regarding the reason for the proper documentation needed for performing casework duties.
Receives instruction regarding proper testimony in court-supervised cases.
Performs a variety of entry-level coal services and case management designed to provide supportive services to children, youth, and families.
Assist children, youth, and families in developing and using their own potential for resolving problems within the family.
Provides or assists in the provision of social services, such as placement of children in foster care or adoptive homes, or institutions.
Participates under close supervision in the investigation of child abuse allegations.
Guides clients in-home and budget management, housing, childcare, and parenting skills, employment, recreation, and living arrangements.
Schedules and conducts interviews and follow up visits to provide service and counseling.
Prepares and provides court testimony under supervision.
Makes referrals to other private and public social services and community agencies and resources to meet client needs and assists clients in understanding these resources.
Attends and participates in case reviews and supervisory conferences and attends formal on the job training program designed to develop professional skills.
Attends staffing, training and other meetings as required.
Performs other job-related work as required.
In-office work performing concurrent varied tasks
Occasional travel throughout Jefferson County to providers and other human service agencies as well as occasional travel to statewide meetings.
Safety Hazards of the Job:
Minimal hazards, general office working conditions. There may, however, be a rare occasion during which it is necessary to have interaction with a client displaying aggressive behavior.

Minimum Requirements (education, experience, etc.)
Bachelorís degree from an accredited college or university preferred with a major in psychology, social work, sociology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related human service field
1 yearsí experience working in the field
Required Licenses, Certificates or Knowledge:
Valid Pennsylvania driverís license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
Knowledge of and adherence to CASSP Principles
Knowledge of community resources
Computer skills to include word processing
Medical and physical screening clearance
Act 33 and Act 34 clearances
Social security card
Immigration and naturalization (I-9) clearance
Good oral and written communication skills
