Job Summary:

Works with the assigned team to install and position desktops, laptops, tablets and related peripherals. Configure and install software for users' desktops, laptops, tablets and peripherals. Performs troubleshooting and maintenance for user's equipment. Ensures all customer requirements are handled expeditionsly while keeping both the user and management apprised of significant changes in workload status. Provides technical assistance and advice to the customer base and support team regarding hardware/software testing, installation and standards. Updates all incident records following Service Desk procedures using call-tracking software as applicable. Responds to and coordinates requests for computer moves, adds and changes.

Work Scope (Duties & Responsibilities):

Work scope may include any/all of the following duties

  • Conduct periodic asset management inventories as requested to capture and report critical data elements

  • Assist with creating network user accounts and the setup/configuration of email.

  • Will provide troubleshooting and problem resolution for software, hardware, and communications issues related to supported computer workstation systems and applications

  • Provides desktop-based detection of viruses to counter/eliminate /control. Detects, contains and eliminates virus infestations.

  • Provide hardware/software installation and testing

  • Provide one-on-one desk-side training for customers

  • Follow established repair part procedures, including coordination of warranty hardware repairs with vendors and other Help Desk staff when required

  • Troubleshooting computer hardware and software of school district computer systems as required

  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisors and management

  • Co-located at various sites within Okaloosa County, Florida.

  • Must be available for travel to other work locations as required

  • Must have strong communication skills

  • Must be available to perform other duties as assigned

Two (2) years of college work in a computer or technical discipline or any equivalent combination of relevant education or experience for a total of two (2) years. Progressive relevant training and/or certification in appropriate discipline may be substituted for one (1) of the education or experience requirement.

Knowledge, skills & abilities required:

  • Experience required in general hardware/software configurations of PCs

  • Experience with Windows 8 and 10 required

  • Appropriate Microsoft computer certifications and Apple/MAC Operating Systems experience a plus

  • Must have the ability to interpret documentation descriptions pertaining to computer systems, software, and peripheral equipment

  • Must be able to communicate in writing and verbally in a professional manner

  • Experience is desired providing IT-related support to the Okaloosa County, FL, School District

  • Must favorably pass a National Agency Check with Local Agency and Credit Checks (NACLC).

  • Learner/entry level role.

  • Provides maintenance and support for basic client products, peripherals, network and physical moves.

  • Functions, somewhat independently, under direction of senior technician or supervisor/manager.

  • Generally follows documented procedures and checklists.

Essential Requirements:

Physical requirements - Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require filing, typing, and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, included but not limited to: bending, reaching, turning and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required

Work Environment - Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.An inside environment may be a cubicle (considerations: close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting). Outside work may include various environmental conditions including warm and cold climates. Needs to be able to work well with co-workers and all levels of management. No hazards on job or unusual environmental conditions

Equipment and Machines- Ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine and other equipment including desk supplies and other work related tools as required.

Criticality of Attendance - Regular hours will be between Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important, but not critical, except for deadlines and meetings. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements

Other Essential Functions:

Must pass drug testing.

Must be able to read and write effectively in English.

Must embrace Beyond Zero/Safety principles of Jacobs to include; adhering to safe work practices and standards while performing daily tasks, taking responsibility for own and coworkers' safekeeping and encouraging others to work safely.

Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers. Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Independent personal transportation to office or work site is required.

Must be able to work under supervision and respond appropriately and professionally to criticism from a supervisor.

Travel requirements - Travel to and from customer's locations and the test fields may be required to support projects. This may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can possibly be made for POV, if necessary. When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion.
