Job Description:

Our client is looking for a Windows Network Administrator for an exciting contract to hire opportunity. The Windows Network Administrator is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining the Windows server and terminal services environment. The Windows Network Administrator is also responsible for assisting with application installation, updates, and to provide support to IT staff and system users. The Windows Network Administrator is the primary responsible party for our client's entire Windows server environment.


  • Acquire, configure, maintain and test servers

  • Insure timely implementation and operation of new or existing Windows server hardware/ software and the periodic upgrading of Windows server to meet Federal exam and audit guidelines

  • Identify and establish standards and procedures for routine tasks and hardware/software configurations

  • Support servers including after-hours support and monitoring server usage and up-time

  • Interface with vendors to obtain required equipment and software in a timely manner while ensuring proper communication with the Assistant CIO regarding audit and budget controls

  • Provide direction in complex problem solving situations and participate in direct interaction with internal staff as required. Identify process improvement opportunities achievable within the company to attain optimal use of the servers

  • Configure and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases, Microsoft IIS Web Servers, Active Directory, and Terminal Services

  • Configure and test Group Policies

  • Ensure software license compliance with all Microsoft server products and ensure capacity requirements are met

  • Ensure impact is minimized during server failure events. Ensure service is restored as quickly as possible

  • Produce documentation to ensure resilience during absences

  • Compliance with requirements of Signature Banking


  • 5+ years of experience as a Network Administrator and 10+ years of IT experience

  • Robust knowledge and experience with building and maintaining Remote Desktop Services

  • Familiarity and hands on experience with server upgrades and migrations, specifically with versions 2008-2012

  • Experience with VM Ware

  • Experience with rebuilding domains

  • All current Microsoft Windows Server operating systems (including integration, migration, upgrading, performance tuning, and management)

  • Active Directory, including but not limited to, GPO, DNS, LDAP, all AD Tools, AD Role Management, AD Synchronization, and all aspects of Active Directory design and maintenance;

  • WSUS for patch management

  • Auxiliary Microsoft Server products including SQL Server

  • Microsoft licensing rules, programs, and options

  • Commonly used Microsoft Windows based products (i.e. Microsoft Office, Dot Net, etc.)

  • Core network technologies such as TCP/IP, ADS, and WINS

  • Familiarity with NetApp

  • Other modern Virtualization and Storage technologies
